Question!

So, the Plotbunny asked me the other day if I planned to be an OC character in Yohji and Ken's bar post, and I thunk and I thunk and then a little tiny lightbulb (like the size of the ones you put in flashlights) went on over my head.

What do y'all think of having an open OC rule (I would like to restrict it to no more than two per thread, unless expressly discussed)? As in, any of us RPers can pop in to an already-unoccupied-by-OC thread and post?

Just a thought. It could be chaotic and bad, I didn't really have all that much sleep :-P

It wouldn't hurt to give it a try. I say, go for it.

Hmm, that could be very very interesting. Although I think that if Yohji had to deal with a second person right now he might completely spaz out (which also could be interesting ha.)

I'm okay with trying that out so long as it's open to kill the rule if it just ends up making things awkward.

As a non-posting voyeur, I'd vote for it.

Hopefully the voyeurs get some say in this. %^D

I was *assuming* that already. Cripes, I am not cool at all with the idea of a permanent reoccuring OC that isn't like a Kritiker agent or plot-device bad guy......

Things would start heading in the direction of that "new Schrient" thing that the dead ringer rp had going. Ugh.

Eh, I don't know. I'm kind of uncomfortable with it. This could be advantageous in some places, particularly ones where one of us has nothing to do with our main characters, or the thread interaction needs some spice and all other logical character choices are preoccupied. And it could be inwardly annoying to see in other places, for example a thread where two players would prefer having the interaction just between their two characters. And since one doesn't really know how things are going to go in a scene when making the first post on the board, it would be hard to predict and stick a note on the first post whether OCs are welcome. It sounds like it would take a lot of extra communication to work out smoothly. But that could be me who hasn't had all that much sleep either. If everyone wants to try it, I'm not going to put up a stink, but I agree with skyrat's suggestion that the rule be retracted if it causes problems.

I don't know. I'm not totally sure what you've got in mind with this.

i'm a tad confused--i already did that in the supermarket. when i've played before, it's sort of a given that when you're in a public place, you interact with other people. they're only transitory--to bring a permanent OC would require the consent of all players (or the majority, etc). it doesn't seem natural to only ever talk to people you know, when you're often around people you don't, when you're a naturally gregarious or otherwise interactive character. and if you're like ran, even if you TRY not to interact with people, they interact with you. it's just what comes naturally.

i've tried organizing and/or encouraging a couple of times, but it hasn't worked. fireun said she was out until the 20th, but it's the 26th and she hasn't posted. i get the feeling lilymoon isn't really into the whole RPing thing, and it seems like if everyone else isn't really into it and coaxing her, darkanger won't post much. maybe we're all just waiting for fireun, i'm not sure. i thought she was a mod. if even the mod has no interest in doing this, i don't know how the rest of us are supposed to function. it's sad, i was really into this when it started, and now i hardly ever bother checking the page. though, i'm glad that weiss has gotten a little fire under its ass now, at least. :P

oh, i see what you mean! sorry, i misunderstood. that's why i was confused. yeah, that could be problematic. i'd have no problem with transitory people, if someone hasn't had a scene in a while, but for a permanent or plot-essential OC i'd at least like to know what/why/etc.

I know what you mean....

I'm rather impatient when it comes to rping, and I have to say the overall pace of this game has been making me rather twitchy. I was seriously ready to give up on Ken when she got sick/busy and dissapeared for a while. However she *did* come back and now I'm really glad I waited because I'm very seriously enjoying the current thread I've got going with her. So I think you probably should wait at least a little longer for fireun to come back.

sigh.

Sure, that sounds fair ^^ I'm not against their use if they're not taken overboard, and I can definitely see the merits of it. Sorry for replying late, been a hectic few days.

sorry. sorry. sorry.

Sorry for not posting much but I do kinda think of Nagi as having little to do in the story right now and very relieant on the other characters. Plus I am a putz and have been moving and without internet and not so allowed to spend much time typing at work so.... yeah, I'm in if I can wrap my head around whats going on since I have been out for a while. I was really into the play when it was moving forward. It stalled for a while and I didn't see the need to check posts too often. And I realize I wasn't getting notification about posts from LJ.

I don't really need the coaxing if it seems like the story is moving along and I have something to say, otherwise I am again at a loss. I want to be involved but I can't carry anything and I feel odd about starting new threads that are all self absorbed from my character's head. If no one else is playing then thats all I can do.

I am now moved in my new place and settled in. I have internet again and no interuptions to my focus. If everyone else is set to move then I am ready to join in.

I don't know about them. Maybe they will get back into the swing. Hopefully. Like GL said, wait it out a little longer.

i don't s'pose you would send out an email to the 3 of us, DA13? i don't wanna send more emails like that for a while. it makes me feel like i'm being bossy since i ain't a mod, but they should at least know what's going on. speaking of mods, you wouldn't want to address the issue, would you, GL?

i have another suggestion as well. when you make a mod post, could you send out an email to all the players with either a copy of the post and a request to reply at the website, or just a brief announcement of a Mod Post. i thiink it would help keep us all in the loop. in fact, if anyone makes a post they want everyone to read, it would be helppftul to announce it by email. i hardly ever chheck my friends list aanymore.

I'll send some emails but that means I have to go back through the posts and see what everyones email is. I am not friends with Firun so I don't know off hand her email. But I will do it. Everyone did leave contact info in a post back in the beginning, didn't they? I'll have to look.
