Sunday 1.10 - Phone call home
Feb. 1st, 2007 01:11 pm[It took me a while to figure out how to get a phone call to work in the RP... O_o;]
Aya-Chan fumbled with the phone until she found the right number. She held it up to her ears, listening to the ring tones and silently willing Ran-niisan to pick up. The situation didn't call for pickyness, but Aya-Chan couldn't help thinking that if Yohji-Kun had picked up, she'd be at a loss for words; after all, telling Ran-niisan about how Ken-Kun had jumped one of two seemingly random strangers while Omi-Kun was holding her against the grocery store shelves and telling her that the strangers had kidnapped her seemed a lot easier than telling Yohji-Kun the same thing.
Damnit, she thought to herself. I wish someone would tell me what was going on.

Date: 2007-02-01 09:24 pm (UTC)Ran startled, nearly knocking over his empty cup. He was halfway across the room before thought caught up with his instincts.
It's not Aya-chan. They went to the grocery store. It's an order. It's one of the customers. It's not Aya-chan.
Breathe Aya.
Ran, breathe.
He fought to keep his voice steady when he picked up the receiver. "Hello."

Date: 2007-02-01 09:47 pm (UTC)"Ken-Kun attacked Farfarello-San and... and now..." oh great, not the waterworks... how old was she anyways? But the more she tried to keep herself calm, the more anxious she seemed to get.

Date: 2007-02-02 10:06 pm (UTC)In an instant, Ran's world was white and black,
nothing in focus but the distant sound of his sister's
voice and in it, the echo of a screeching car.
It had all been for nothing.
He fought not to drop the phone and take off. "Do not
trust Farfarello or anyone he's with. Listen to Omi.
I'm coming. Yohji will talk with you."
Nothing precious is safe.
He had no other choice. He could not abandon Aya-chan,
and if Yohji talked with her they would at least have
a fighting chance at knowing where they were. "Yohji!"
He shouted, carrying the phone with him on the way up the stairs to grab his
katana, "Pick up the phone! Now! Schwartz has attacked the others."
Schwartz has attacked the others.
His voice was business, his mind was business, and he would kill them this time.
Nothing precious is safe.
"Aya-chan, are you hurt?"
He had been pretending to be Ran too long, when Aya was still needed. Aya would not have let his sister go to the store without him, not with the enemy still alive. He would not have trusted anyone but himself with his sister's protection.
And he wouldn't again.

Date: 2007-02-02 11:56 pm (UTC)Aya-Chan took a deep breath. It seemed a bit easier to keep her composure after hearing his voice. Ran-niisan was coming... and she had Omi-Kun and Ken-Kun here. Whoever these people were - and she desperately wanted to know - they couldn't possibly do her that much harm?
"Aya-chan, are you hurt?"
"I-I'm fine." She suddenly felt bad for making him worry so much. Honestly, nearly breaking down over the phone like that. "Omi-Kun's here with me."

Aya Chan.
*Shit*
Ran was yelling something about the phone, so Yohji scrambled across the room and shakily picked it up. Ran didn't yell like that without a reason. Something very wrong was going down.
He felt unexpected relief at the sound of Aya Chan's voice coming through. Whatever was going on hadn't escalated too out of control yet, if she was able to call.
"What's going on?"

He would kill them.
He sped down the highway to his sister.

Date: 2007-02-05 12:30 am (UTC)If there was some sort of crisis, Ran couldn't just leave without even telling him what was going on!
But of course he could, and would.
"Ah--Aya Chan?" Yohji fumbled with the phone as he tried to run upstairs, "I think I should call you on my cell phone so I can follow your brother. Is that okay?"
He started to reach for his coat but decided it wasn't necessary. Instead he grabbed the doornob, ready to drop the phone upon her reply.

"O-okay." Aya-Chan took a deep breath, glancing around her as she did so. "You don't have to call back, Yohji-Kun. You'd be able to drive safer if you weren't on the phone."

Date: 2007-02-05 03:37 am (UTC)"I...don't think Ran would be okay with that, Aya," Yohji tried not to let his annoyance show through.
"But I excel at multitasking, so don't worry." He forced his voice to sound cheerful, and unworried, another skill he excelled at.
Yohji hung up before she could answer, but wasted no time calling back; Ran had ensured that her number was the first speed dial option on every phone he could get his hands on, although Yohji doubted that Aya Chan knew that.
"You still there?" he was already out the door and halfway to seven before she could answer.

Date: 2007-02-05 03:44 am (UTC)About a few seconds after Aya-Chan hung up, she felt the small cell phone vibrate in her hands. She flipped it open again, and answered Yohji's question with a soft, "Uhn..." While it did seem incredibly inconvenient for Yohji to be calling and driving and quite possibly confused out of his mind, Aya-Chan still felt a slight bit of reassurance knowing that he at least was there.
"Schuldig and Farfarello are here," she blurted, repeating exactly what she had heard Omi say moments before. At least she could alleviate part of his confusion; it was the least she could do, seeing as how she was keeping him on the phone like this.

Date: 2007-02-05 04:02 am (UTC)"Schuldig and Farfarello are here"
That was the very last thing Yohji wanted to hear. No wonder Ran had bolted like that....
"Stay away from them, Aya," somehow the 'Chan' mangaed to get lost in Yohji's panic, "those are really bad people, okay? They tried to hurt you...before."
He ran his third red light in five minutes. Luckily the grocery store wasn't too far away.

Date: 2007-02-05 09:15 pm (UTC)"Wait!" She stopped suddenly as they exited the grocery store, momentarily blinded by the brightness outside, still holding onto the cell phone but no longer able to grasp Yohji's words. "Ran-niisan... said he was coming."

Date: 2007-02-05 11:12 pm (UTC)Shit! They were leaving, but Ran wasn't there yet. Should he keep going? Go back? Aya didn't seem to be listening to him anymore, should he still stay on the phone?
Goddamnit, Ran shouldn't have left without him.
He decided to keep going to the store, he might at least meet them coming back. It was just at the end of the street, anyway.
Yohji parked, not quite illegally, and proceeded on foot, scanning the street for any sign of his teammates or Schwartz.
