[identity profile] genuinelie.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] theblackcross
Welcome, everyone -

Thanks for signing on! I'm very excited for this RP, because I think we have such a great group of players this time around.

This is the post where all of you can post tips, hints and other helpful nuggets of knowledge either concerning your character, the RP, roleplaying in general, and whatever else strikes your fancy.

For all of you watching this RP, I'm considering making a seperate community, because two of you have asked. This would be very flattering, of course, but would a second post work as a playground for this, or is another forum necessary? Feedback from everyone is appreciated. I've honestly never even thought anyone would bother getting that into someone else's RP, but the fact that someone is interested is pretty cool.

Secondly, I would like to keep the format consistent in here, because I've found otherwise it makes following along confusing. So, from all players - do you prefer first person, or third, or don't you care? This is a majority rules decision.

_____________________

As a refresher, this is the premise:

Aya (Ran's sister) is awake; Weiss is still living together, Schwartz is still intact. How together and how intact can be left up to RP.

Meanwhile, Kritiker has changed leadership, and the powers that are active within the organization have their own agenda. And it's becoming more and more apparent that these powers aren't exactly good ones.

Surprise, surprise.

____________________

For clarity, at the start of this game, Weiss will be aware of the change in Kritiker leadership, but it's more or less life as usual in the flowershop, with the exception of Aya-chan.

___________________

Kritiker will be played by [livejournal.com profile] fireun and me.

___________________

If everyone could post a brief description of how they see their character in this post, that would be excellent (but of course not mandatory).

Character: Omi
Character sketch: In the face of ever-growing suspicion and doubt over the goodness of Kritiker, Omi struggles with the conflict of what he sees versus the faith and loyalty in Kritiker that he’s been engrained to have.

Thanks in part to his own issues (and whose sister it is), he’s taken a certain sympathy towards Aya-chan, and wants to make her feel as at home as possible, while similarly wrestling with what it means to have a non-member of Weiß with them. It unnerves him somewhat.

He’s still fumbling up and calling Ran “Aya-kun.”

As for format, I prefer third person. First person is fun and can be more intimate, but I think it also makes things a bit more confusing not having name labels in the posts, and it's particularly chaotic if there comes a point where one player is controlling two characters in the same scene. Additionally, it's more limiting because you can only include things the characters themselves are aware of. In third person, you can include short tags for that like "Completely oblivious to the ___," to explain a lack of response to something. I guess I felt like some of my Ken posts were incomplete when I just had to leave things out altogether and couldn't explain why XD

Also, a question: Does Aya-chan -know- about Weiß? I mean, that’s going to be an awfully hard secret to keep from someone living with them. Going out together, coming back bloody, disappearing downstairs for SEKRIT CLUB meetings? XD

I was refering to aya chan, heh, but wasn't thinking clearly enough to specify what part of your post I was commenting on .__.

*nods* I figured you meant Aya-chan. I just thought it was funny because Omi is like, the Master of denial in canon XD

Hirofumi: I am your brother :O
Omi: ........... NO YOU'RE NOT! *kills Hirofumi*

Schu: Haha you are a brother-killer and no better than the targets you hunt. >D
Omi: ........... NO I'M NOT! *tries to kill Schu*

Evil Lawyer: Killing people is wrong, what you are doing is bad. X(
Omi: ........... NO IT ISN'T! *kills lawyer*

Etc.

^ That was my question as well, does Aya-Chan know about Weiss, or is she just "Ran's sister" who happens to help around and need extra protection?

I prefer third-person RP~ It would be easier to keep track of who's-who.

I already posted a character sketch... but I'll clean it up a bit more after I find out more about the position of my character.

Alright, so character sketch time:

Username: 7bladed
Character: Aya-Chan
Sketch: Having been out of society for so long, Aya-Chan has to find a way to fit herself back in. She's trying to fit into a new high school while juggling the side-effects of the coma, which includes sometimes violent black outs and random moments of weakness.

She had been given an explanation as to why she was is currently still sick and vague details as to what went on during her coma, but she is still very much in the dark about many of the on-goings of Weiss. She knows that her brother - and his three friends - work for Kritiker but she is unaware of exactly how involved her brother actually is; though, she suspects it's more than just a desk job. However, never being one to pry into others' affairs, she feels that her brother would reveal the details to her as soon as he feels comfortable enough to do so and for the time being, she tries to help out around the house as much as she possibly can.

another vote for the third person.
Schu felt the need to add his 2 cents to this post.

Username- fireun
Character- Schuldich
Sketch- likes long walks on the beach, usually right after long nights in the bar and usually in pursuit of a long night in the sack.

ahem.

he's a right bastard, as usual, and very concerned with his own amusement and enjoyment, but viciously efficient when necessary and unfailingly loyal to Crawford.

he is not/was not a drug addict or prostitute. he is an attention whore, self interested, and vain. he would also rather someone else do the little things in life. like make lunch, do the dishes, and get him a beer.

questions? comments? clarification needed? snag me in my journal, comment here, or peg me on aim or yahoo. i am always around in the evening

I think if we are going to hold the whole rp directly in one journal, it's necessary to do third person, for the same reasons pichi mentioned. From my experience first person is better held with each character having their own journal and the interacting occuring through the flists.

I don't exp have a preference though.

Character: Yohji
Sketch: Still very much hung up on Asuka, Yohji is going stir crazy trying to block the memory of Neu's betrayal. This leads to a decline in his already unhealthy lifestyle and an unconscious projection of his nervous energy upon his teammates. He's trying very hard to maintain the easygoing persona he identifies with, but those who know him well can see it slipping.

Not really expecting to live long enough to complete any long term goals, Yohji is simply focusing on getting through each day as it comes without annoying his peers to the point of ostracism.

Watching the RP: I'm new to all this, but I don't see why a second post shouldn't work. Less work for you. If it gets unwieldy, you could make a separate community later...

i have questions about how this incarnation of schwarz is going to work. (greetings and salutations, i'm farfarello, btw.) what i want to know is, can schuldig read everyone, and can crawford see everyone's future? i especially want to know about schuldig, because if we're going to play in a 3rd person format--as it seems we are--and he can read other people's thoughts, it might lead to some POV difficulties. for myself, i always try to make sure and keep whatever i'm writing about in my character's POV, especially anything about other people's characters. however, a schuldig i tried to play with before would 'read' stuff about my character that i didn't mean my character to think or feel. so, i just want to make sure we know how that's going to work. plus there's several interpretations of the way schuldig's and crawford's powers work, such as who they can read, how far into the future crawford can see, whether the rest of schwarz even knows how far he can see, how powerful schuldig is and so forth. nagi's i don't really have questions about...farf's are in his profile. or rather, they will be, when i make a profile in a minute or two.

any word on the answers?

All right - as for Crawford, let's leave that question for the moment until the game gets started.

As for Schuldig, I suggest perhaps denoting other people's thoughts with a specific format - perhaps brackets.

[This beer tastes like piss and that damned ninja wannabe needs to lighten up,]

Schu smirked as he caught Yohji's thoughts.

But Fireun, in this case, is really way more experienced a roleplayer than I am, so I'll leave it up to her.

Is that what you were asking or did I misunderstand?

Date: 2007-01-20 04:01 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] fieryredqueen.livejournal.com
that's not really what i was asking. it's really more a question for fireun, who said to comment here with questions. what i want to know is how it works in roleplaying when another character has to interpret your character well enough that they can read your thoughts. i'd mentioned an example of that where it didn't work out well. though she'd turned schuldig into a sort of empath as well--she had farfarello cowering in fear, after i'd said he doesn't feel fear, just as an example. if schuldig can't read farfarello's thoughts, it's a moot point for my character, but i'd think other people would wonder about this as well. but, if i'm the only one concerned about it, then i want to know just for me. thinking about it a bit more, the person i'd played with that time was a first-time rp'er, though, so if fireun's had a lot of experience as schuldig and this has never come up, then i wouldn't mind trying a situation where farf's thoughts can be read. is this too much explanation? i've probably just confused the issue a lot instead of clarifying...i'm babbly that way...

i do play Schu as being able to 'read' everyone, but i take my cues from the character posts i am interacting in. if you havent made a suggestion that farf is afraid, i am not going to make it be so. if i am unsure, i dont mention anything in particular being 'read' until i can confer with whoever i am interacting with in game.

i dont do much of the whole empathy thing. a bastardized sort of empathy mayhap, in that someone is thinking they are cornered and upset, Schu would know they are, but not empathy as a side power or anything like that.

when it comes to farf though, i like the fanon sort of assumption that farf is bloody hard to read, but i dont see it as impossible. unless you would prefer it that way. i am completely open to character interpretation!

...i am hoping that made sense? am a wee bit tired right now.

spiffaroni. i'd prefer if schu had a hard time reading farfarello, i think. just because i like that interpretation as well. i think being in farf's head would be physically painful, or nauseating, for a telepath, actually.

i particularly like that you said you confer with someone before schu 'reads' them. i think that's good RP'ing. :D

Character: Farfarello
lj user: [livejournal.com profile] fieryredqueen
Powers: (As listed in the Gakken Mook, an official Weiss publication)
1. Feels no pain.
2. Feels no fear.
3. Can separate spirit from body. Schwarz knows he can do this with his own spirit. Farfarello is the only one left alive who knows whether he can do it to anyone else's.

After killing his mother and remembering his past, Farfarello went through a short but intense 'crisis of faith.' Since he knew now that he'd killed his own family, how could he claim to be a victim? He came closer to self-destruction than he ever had, as he could hear both the holy and the damned alike jeering at him from the shadows, mocking him. But then he realized--the Liar was laughing at him because the Liar had put the scales over his eyes to begin with. And it was alright, because the Liar was also the Creator, and through His actions He had created Farfarello's purpose, the one which he'd always had since his memories began: to destroy the Liar. When he realized that, he gained a peace and serenity like he had never known. He is able to take great pleasure in the simple joys of life--the sound of rain, the taste of a strawberry, the sight of an eyeball popping under a knife-point, the feel of warm blood on steel--because he knows that each action will bring him closer to his ultimate goal, and there is no need to be tense or frustrated. All is well.

Well, well, don't I feel like the slacker. I will re-read the scenario again today and ty to figure out what I want to say/do/be as Nagi. I haven't really thought about how he should play against the other dark team members yet. So give me a bit and I'll have it sorted in my head.

Sorry for the delay. I will do my homework and turn it in. I promise.^_^

Sorry for the delay...

Character: Naoe Nagi

Codename: Prodigy

Character Sketch: Truely still a teenage and completely aware that he is the youngest, Nagi tries to keep an outwardly apathetic few of everything around him.

He is easily irratatated and full of emotion even though he rarely ever lets any of that show. His power is psychokinesis which is fueled by his emotions so all the pent up energy can be volatile when released.

He is closest and most loyal to Crawford over the other of his team because he was responsible for taking him off the streets and giving him the opportunity to eventually get some sort of revenge against society for the way he grew up.

His relationship to his other team members is an odd sort of brotherhood but he often finds it hard to mingle with two very different personalities as well as the culture shock from them.
